Hike to visit the hummingbirds on top of Goldsworthy’s Spire in the Presido

One of our classmates mentioned this but I think its worth blogging about.  To think about how far we traveled in going to the Presidio to visit Spire, and finding the hummingbirds at the top.  It looked as though they were nesting up there, but how amazing.  It makes me reflect on the course and think about the collective power of being together.  The mainstream fast and modern world would not put much importance on a pilgrimage to look at art, let alone honor the hummingbirds on top of Spire.  But we came together and affirmed in our studies that yes, this stuff was important!  Why?  Because it makes us more reflective, it makes us think, it makes us be quiet and see – look – observe.  In seeing art we step outside of our comfort zones and appreciate new worlds.  And also find worlds we didn’t expect to see.  The course has given me the momentum (from the power of the group) to affirm a place for art in my life.  In looking at it, creating it, appreciating it and seeing the way in which it creates social change.  Below is a picture of the top of Spire.
